Meizu MX5 Leaks Out In Live Images

Seems to have gone in for a WQHD display this time around.

It is indeed that time of the year when Meizu announces its next flagship smartphone. Last year’s MX4 and MX4 Pro were indeed winners in the specs game, even though both smartphones avoided Qualcomm like the plague.

So with an upcoming expected announcement, also comes news about leaks. Today, we have images of the actual handset itself.

Going by the looks, it does have a lot of similarities with the Meizu MX4 Pro. That aside, the fingerprint sensor on the front is now rounded and a bit similar to the one on the Galaxy S6 models but a lot bigger.

More importantly, Meizu finally seems to have moved on to a 16:9 ratio display as can be seen from the images. We are not sure whether Meizu will go in for a WQXGA display (2560x1600 pixels, 16:10) or a WQHD (2560x1440 pixels, 16:9) one at this moment. Still then, this will not only make the device easier to hold because it now thinner and longer (similar to the iPhone 6 Plus), but it works well for viewing Full HD content as well.

Sadly, there are no details about the handset’s specifications. Earlier rumours point to a 41 MP software enhanced image capture, but we may also see the new MediaTek Helio X10 show up in there since the X20-based smartphones are expected later this year.
