OnePlus One’s OxygenOS To Arrive In March

This applies to both the CM12S ROM and OxygenOS.

OnePlus indeed seems to be eating its own words once again as the company has made it official that its stable, official Android 5.0 Lollipop updates will only arrive by March. While the month is just a few days away, we are pretty sure that OnePlus Co-founder, Carl Pei intended that it will arrive by the end of the month.

This is not exactly the first time that OnePlus had to eat its own words. There have been plenty of opportunities to pick on the Chinese smartphone maker in the past. This one, happens to take place simply because OnePlus had promised to deliver the official ROM within three months of Google’s final release of the source code (February).

The question was addressed on Twitter by a OnePlus owner and Carl Pei took the opportunity to prevent further rumours from spreading.

The reasons for the delay were pretty straight-forward and clear. These can be attributed to proprietary drivers, code, quality analysis and the plethora of certifications that stuff like this usually needs to go though. This becomes important, when you consider the mess that Micromax has put OnePlus in, thanks to Cyanogen, Inc.

It was just last month that OnePlus announced its team for building the OxygenOS ROM for the OnePlus One and future OnePlus devices. We were indeed delighted to know that the Paranoid Android ROM development team was roped in to build it, meaning that one can expect some pretty unique features from OxygenOS when it arrives later next month.
