Sony Updating Media Apps For Select Xperia Devices

Updates have started rolling out gradually, can be downloaded OTA.

 

Sony, which recently made public its plans to roll out Android 4.3 to its smartphones and tablet, has instead started with Media app updates instead. The global rollout will be available for devices including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, and the Xperia Z Ultra, all of which run Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

The Sony Media Apps are seeding Over-The-Air (OTA), and brings enhancements to the WALKMAN, Movies, and Album, along with integrating to the cloud-services. The other enhancements include better playback, social features for the WALKMAN app, "Clear Audio+"presents", revamped user interface for Movies application, and the Recall Playback feature.

The full changelog of the enhancements:

Updates to ALBUM

  • Recall Playback feature.
  • Favourites (providing the ability to "star" all the favourite user pictures).
  • PlayMemories Online integration.

WALKMAN

  • Unlimited integration with Sony Music.
  • Smooth music playback.
  • Social integration that lets users to discover and share music content easily.

MOVIES

  • New user interface (UI) with options to view videos played recently.
  • Access to Sony Video Unlimited.

The update will be rolled out gradually throughout the world so you can expect it to happen over the next few months.
