Envent Launches Three New iPhone 4 Cases: SHEATH For Rs 1600; ARMOUR And ARMOUR+ At Rs 1000 Each

Meant for the iPhone 4 and 4S, the SHEATH comes with a front flap, while the ARMOUR+ sports a kickstand as well as a free scratch guard.

There are several reasons for an iPhone owner to invest in accessories to protect and preserve his precious gadget; it is susceptible to catching on fire or shattering every now and then. To help you keep your expensive smartphone safe from a terminal case of butter fingers, Envent, an Indian manufacturer of mobile acessories, has launched three new iPhone cases: the SHEATH, ARMOUR, and ARMOUR+.  All cases are meant for both the iPhone 4 and the newer iPhone 4S.

First up is the SHEATH. A hard case with a front flap, this accessory is available in black, white, or blue, and is priced at Rs 1600. It claims to have an impact-resistant bumper case that leaves all the control buttons accessible. Next is the ARMOUR, which provides a polycarbonate frame with a textured finish. It doesn't have a front flap to protect the screen, but comes with a scratch guard film instead. While the plastic shell absorbs impacts and prevents the screen from shattering, the scratch guard is supposed to minimize the chance of minor nicks appearing on the display. Available in black, white, and pink, this case costs Rs 1000.

A slightly higher-end version is the ARMOUR+. It costs the same as the ARMOUR and has identical specifications. The only difference is the lack of a textured surface, and the addition of a kickstand to conveniently support the iPhone on a flat surface while you watch a movie. This one's available only in black or white, and also comes with a bonus scratch protector. However, you should be aware that scratch guards are known to do more harm than good. For one, they don't offer all that much protection since the screen is already scratch-resistant. Secondly, you will eventually see dirt building up around the edges of the film, which is not something you'd want on such a beautiful display.

All said and done, rumours suggest that the iPhone 5, which is due in September, will be slimmer and sport a larger display. If you plan to buy one of those in the near future, you won't be able to reuse these accessories. Then again, if you're rich enough to be able to spend more than Rs 50,000 on the iPhone 5 as soon as it releases, you probably won't be worried about a few chindi cases going to waste.
