Meizu’s MX5 Leaks Out Featuring Super Fast 12V Charging

Seems to be the only Chinese company that is really innovating.

Chinese smartphone maker seems to be on a launch spree these days. The company announced its first smartphone for the Indian market, the m1 note that was soon followed by the unveiling of m2 note.

Months before the launch of the m1note in India, we saw the announcement of the MX4 Ubuntu Edition and it now seems that its spiritual successor is ready as well.

Technically, the MX5 is not that much of a successor as it takes the HTC philosophy and has simply incorporated some new hardware, while sticking to the original design.

So this is more of an upgrade and not a brand new product.

Coming to the leaked images, they show a smartphone that looks very similar to the MX4 in every way apart from the new mBack button upfront that made its debut with the m2 note.

That aside the new leaks also shed some light on the internals of the MX5:

  • We get a 16:9, 5.5 inch, Full HD AMOLED display (instead of the rumoured Quad HD one)
  • Inside, we have an unannounced MediaTek MT6793 (rumoured) 2.3 GHz octa-core chipset with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage that finally sees an expandable memory slot
  • The primary camera is expected to be a 20 MP unit while the front-facing unit with be a 3 MP one
  • There are the usual connectivity options all of which are powered by a 3150 mAh battery

There is something special about the charging mechanism as well. Similar to OPPO’s VOOC quick charge tech, Meizu is also said to have worked on a 12V charging technology to take charging speeds to the next level.

With all the details already out (along with TENAA certification), we can expect the Meizu MX5 to be announced shortly.
