Leaked: Xiaomi May Be Building An Intel-Based Laptop

It is a spitting image of Apple’s MacBook Air.

As many of us know by now, Xiaomi as a budding smartphone maker does not restrict its product range to just smartphones. We have smart TVs, gaming controllers, health monitoring systems and even air purifiers. So it isn’t a surprise when you hear a leak about Xiaomi building a laptop. Well, news is that Xiaomi seems to be doing just that; or that is at least what the latest leaks have to tell us.

The leak comes from the same source that leaked out the dual-edged rumoured Xiaomi Arch smartphone so you will indeed have to take this leak with a bucket of salt. The images show a laptop that looks exactly like Apple’s MacBook Air but comes with a 15 inch 1080p display and as the leaked specs point out, an Intel Haswell i7-4500U processor coupled with 16 GB of RAM.

The MI branding is all over the place in typical bright orange and the company also seems to have included a special customisable command button (in orange) at the top right hand corner of the keyboard.

As for the software the leaker states that Xiaomi will not be running Windows code inside but will utilize its own home grown version of a Linux instead. The pricing is around 2999 Yuan which comes to around Rs 30,000 in Indian monies. As for the launch of this leaked product, there is clearly no news about that just yet.
