Refined Android 5.0 Lollipop Build For Samsung Smartphones Demoed

While the TouchWiz look and feel persists, the Material Design influence is now clearly visible.

The last time we saw the first bits of the GALAXY S5’s old Android L builds, we were pretty impressed that Samsung has actually taken a step forward and adopted Google’s Material Design theme for its upcoming update. While the older leaked screenshots do show the first Android L build, we now have a proper demo from SamMobile who has managed to get their hands on a newer build with the finished Android Lollipop on the GALAXY S5.

While the UX does have a few similarities with the previously leaked screenshots, upon looking closely you will notice a number of new features. There is the addition of the Google Search bar in the recents screen (similar to the stock Nexus 6) then there is the option to unlock to the dialer directly which although not new for Samsung, has made it way to the lockscreen once again.

The Music Player along with the Clock and Calculator apps now have an improved and refined UI, but Samsung clearly has not moved to a newer colour palette and has stuck to the teal green colour which has been present since the GALAXY S5.

This is of course not the final build, but you can expect a similar level of functionality and UX responsiveness to be available when the firmware is expected to go live; which according to SamMobile should begin as early as December.
