HTC May Be Releasing A Cheaper One (M8) Pretty Soon

To possess the same hardware specifications, minus that gorgeous aluminium body.

We all love the HTC One M8’s design; and even though the camera module will not find too many buyers—thanks to its price—seems like HTC has a solution for that as well. There are murmurs about HTC building a cheaper (not affordable) lower-priced version of the HTC One (M8). This may be for the primary reason that HTC wants to push a sufficiently specd flagship level device to its mid-segment—a place which HTC has been focussing on since the beginning of this year.

It was just a few months ago in February, that HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang told Reuters news agency that the company would now focus on the mid-segment a space which the premium smartphone maker has not tapped into for long. It’s a segment which many premium smartphone maker’s (even Apple) fall back on, when their profits begin to dip. The Chairwoman also said that since the focus last year was solely on the flagships, they missed out on a huge chunk of the mid-tier market.

So it makes sense that apart from the rumoured HTC One (M8) Mini (which will also debut once the original One’s sales begin to fade) there may be a cheaper version of the HTC One (M8) coming out as well. From what GForGames reports, HTC will keep the hardware specifications exactly the same and only cut down on the price tag with a plastic body. Oh yes, about that price tag; it’s rumoured to be almost half of the existing One (M8). We guess that HTC may cut down on the Ultra Pixel camera and the Snapdragon 801 to bring the pricing down for the mid-segment.
