WWDC 2012: Siri Will Make Its Way To The New iPad With iOS 6

However, the earlier iPad and iPad 2 will miss out on the action.

Apple's Siri, which was in beta until yesterday, has become widely popular around the world for its wittiness and accuracy as compared to the competition. However, it has remained exclusive to the iPhone 4S, which hasn't gone down too well with fans. Yesterday though, Apple surprised everybody by announcing Siri for the new iPad, along with the iOS 6 update.

Although iOS 6 will not break cover until later this year, new iPad users have every reason to rejoice. The first-generation tablet won't support iOS 6 as we mentioned in our post yesterday, while the iPad 2 will get the update sans the virtual assistant. One would have thought that Apple would keep Siri exclusive to the 4S, at least until the next iPhone is launched. For now though, Siri will be available with two devices: the iPhone 4S and iPad 3, or the new iPad as it's popularly known. What this means is that the exclusivity factor of Siri has been marginally diminished. However, iPad 2 users will be very disappointed to miss out on the voice assistant.
