Acer Will Ship A Whole PC With Its Windows 10 Jade Primo Smartphone

This includes the smartphone, Continuum dock, keyboard and mouse.

Acer had plenty to show off back at the IFA in September, with not just smartphones, but gaming PC’s and tablets as well. Among them was the Windows 10-powered Acer Jade Primo that caught everyone’s attention with its flagship specs.

Now that Microsoft announced and demoed Windows 10 with Continuum on its Lumia 950 at its devices event, the Windows 10 tour seems to have unveiled another discovery. Acer will be shipping its Jade Primo smartphone with a Continuum dock, keyboard and mouse.

What this means is that if you purchase one, you will have a desktop-like set up right out of the box, provided you have a TV or a display at home.

Indeed, this also makes Acer the first Windows 10 device maker to ship a smartphone with what appears to be a complete PC solution.

The Windows 10-powered Acer Primo packs in hardware that is similar to the Lumia 950, minus the liquid cooling bits. You get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, 3 GB of RAM, 21 MP rear camera and USB Type-C port at the bottom.

As we can see, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3 GB of RAM seems to be the minimum requirements for Windows 10’s Continuum feature. What we cannot confirm for now, is the price tag of the Acer Jade Primo.

Hopefully, it is priced a bit lower than Microsoft’s Lumia 950 series making Continuum accessible to more smartphone segments, as few will pick up an Acer instead of Microsoft’s own devices.
