HTC USA Outs Qualcomm-Powered Rapid Charger 2.0 Travel Charger

Claims to deliver 40% faster charging compared to standard smartphone chargers.

We did report a while ago that Qualcomm would gradually begin delivering its Quick Charge 2.0 charging technology to devices that run its Snapdragon 400 platform and over. Well that time has finally arrived as HTC has launched its all new Rapid Charger 2.0 for the US market that will reduce your charging times by a huge margin.

It delivers a 60% charge to your smartphone’s battery in the same time it takes a regular charger to deliver a 12% charge. The charging tech basically had been embedded into a Qualcomm Snapdragon powered smartphones and tablets all along. It is just that the chargers that deliver the technology took some time to be manufactured. This is why we are seeing them appear in stores today.

HTC claims that its charger is compatible with all of its recent smartphones that are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. While the American portal shows just the HTC Desire EYE, The One (M8) and The One (E8), we guess that it will also be compatible with chipsets running the Snapdragon 400 SoC and over.

Well if you do own a device from another manufacturer, there is indeed no reason to worry about. This is because every manufacturer out there will be pushing out such chargers for their smartphones shortly. Still, then we would not recommend plugging in an HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 into a Sony or a Samsung smartphone for now.
