Jolla Launcher To Hit Play Store Next Week; Looking For Alpha Testers

Wants to try out its product with a limited audience to make sure it gets things right.

Jolla is ready with its Jolla Launcher and has confirmed that it will be launched next week. The Finnish company is now looking for alpha testers to help them squeeze out the bugs before they let it loose on the Play Store next week.

Alpha testing clearly means that this is indeed the first time that the third-party launcher will be used on a variety of handsets in different conditions worldwide. All you need to have is an Android running smartphone, preferably a Nexus 4 or a Nexus 5 with at least Android 4.3/4.4 installed.

You will then need to contact [email protected] from your Google account with your details and Jolla will revert with the Play Store link for download.

Everybody wants to showcase their stuff on Android these days, trying to entice Android users into their ecosystems. There was in fact also some news about Jolla being ported to Android devices, which will at least increase the popularity of the OS and encourage developers to build Jolla OS-based third-party apps.

It just was a few months ago that Jolla had announced that it would soon be entering the Chinese, Indian and Russian smartphone markets. So far there has been no update on the same.
