Microsoft Announces Sculpt Comfort Keyboard

Promises greater comfort while typing for prolonged periods; expected to launch shortly.

With the Windows 8 official release date drawing closer, more Windows 8 specific devices are set to enter the market. In the past month, we have seen a huge number of Windows 8 devices from HP, Samsung, Sony, and Dell unveiled at IFA 2012. But the question among customers is: What about accessories specific to Windows 8? Well, Microsoft has the answer. In recent times, they have introduced quite a lineup of Windows 8 compatible hardware; today, they have added the new Sculpt Comfort Keyboard to that list.

The highlight of the Sculpt Comfort keyboard is its many ergonomic features — a contoured keyset, removable padded palm rest, and palm lift. A split spacebar with backspace functionality has been introduced; this feature is supposed to improve typing efficiency by cutting down on the time to reach for the backspace key.

Let’s have a look at the list of other features this keyboard provides:

  • Wireless USB to connect to the PC.
  • Windows 8 shortcut keys for play/pause, volume up/down, mute, search, share, charms menu, settings, app switch, app bar, and others.
  • Hard lock switches to toggle between F keys and shortcut keys.
  • 2 AAA batteries which provide 10 months of battery life, on/off switch, and battery status indicator.
  • Compatible with Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 7 and Vista.
  • Three-year limited warranty.

The keyboard has been priced at $59.95 (approx Rs 3,300), and has been marked "coming soon" on the official product page. Take a closer look in the image gallery below.
