Meizu May Announce The Meizu MX5 On 26 August Brand Launch

The event will focus on all a range of Meizu smartphones that company plans to launch in India.

Meizu has sent out invites for its brand launch for the Indian market, set to happen on the 26th of August in New Delhi.

The event is said to focus on the brand as a whole, since it was not formally introduced to the media even though the company already has two smartphones selling in the Indian market.

While we have no clue about how well the budget devices (Meizu m1 note and m2 note) are doing, there is indeed plenty of room for low-priced flagship smartphone like the MX5.

Yes, murmurs about the event do point to the launch of what will be Meizu’s first flagship smartphone launch for the Indian market.

Coming to the Meizu MX5, the smartphone was announced on the 1st of July this year. It packs in quite a punch in both in terms of hardware and software and is packaged in a polished, metal and glass construction that is just 7.6 mm thin.

The MediaTek, Helio X10 chipset aside, the smartphone also happens to properly incorporate the nano moulding process and the use of the PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) material that, is actually plastic, but comes with a polished metal look and feel for the back. Indeed, this is used just for the top and bottom caps for better antenna reception.

As for the hardware specifications:

  • We get a 5.5 inch Full HD AMOLED display (1920 x 1080 pixels) covered with Gorilla Glass 3
  • Inside there is a MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T SoC) with 3 GB of RAM
  • Memory options are limited to internal storage only but is available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB variants
  • The Camera department includes a 20.7 MP Sony sensor coupled a new laser-assisted autofocus system on the back and a f/2.0 aperture lens, 5 MP unit on the front
  • The handset comes with the regular connectivity options that includes dual SIM 4G, dual-band 802.11 ac/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1
  • All of the above is powered by a 3150 mAh battery

If launched at Rs 20,000 - Rs 25,000 bracket, it will compete directly with the OnePlus 2. This is keeping in mind the presence of a fingerprint scanner, a metal body and a 20 MP camera; and also the fact that they are both Chinese smartphone brands.
