OPPO’s Bezel-Less Smartphone Leaks Out In Live Images

Uses the same technology as on Sharp’s Aquos range.

OPPO has been getting its share of the limelight in the rumour mill lately. The Chinese smartphone maker known for its innovations is up to something once again.

This time around OPPO is gunning for a bezel-less display. While the news of a patent filing for the same just leaked out a few days ago, we today have images of the actual handset, in the flesh, thanks to some leaked out images.

The handset’s design is breath-taking and while the software inside looks typically OPPO with its Color OS, its those razor-thin bezels that will indeed grab all the attention.

The technology according the leak makes use of a the diffraction of light. Meaning that the display panel sits inside a frame with a glass on top that slightly overlaps it at the edges.

Its indeed the glass panel that is hard at work here that helps diffract the light coming from the display inside till the edges, giving the impression that the display is bezel-less.

Sharp did a similar thing with its Aquos Crystal smartphones that were announced recently. But OPPO seems to have taken the tech to the limits.

Indeed durability was a question that came to everyone’s mind when Samsung showed off its dual-edge display on the Samsung GALAXY S6 edge. But in the case of the edge we at least have a metal rim protecting it from the back and sides.

Hopefully we get a better view of the back of this stunning OPPO handset soon.
