Xiaomi Gets The Green Signal From The Delhi High Court

As always there is a catch and the Chinese company will have to make some mighty quick decisions to keep up with the competition.

Xiaomi who was recently banned from selling its smartphones in India, has finally got its ban partially lifted by the Delhi High Court. Obviously when things move at such a quick pace, there is always a catch; and for Xiaomi this is indeed something that will force them to make some drastic changes to keep all those monies coming in.

The High Court announced that Xiaomi would be allowed to sell its smartphones in India, but that would only include the devices that are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. This means that the Redmi Note that took off with a great start, will still remain banned as it sports some MediaTek silicon inside. On the brighter side of things, Xiaomi will have to rush a bit and deliver the next best thing, the Redmi Note 4G instead.

If not for the Redmi Note 4G, the company will have to bring back the Redmi 1S to keep up those sales figures. The High Court will allow Xiaomi to sell Qualcomm based devices only till the 8th of January 2015 in India. The next hearing will be held on the 5th of February, so it will indeed be a tough quarter for Xiaomi in India.

Xiaomi was banned from selling any of its smartphones just a week ago when Swedish telecom giant, Ericsson showed up stating that the Chinese company has been infringing a number of its Standard, Essential Patents (SEPs).
