Meizu Announces Its MX4 Pro, Powered By Samsung’s Exynos Chipset

While the smartphone clearly looks like an iPhone 6, Meizu seems to have added plenty of interesting bits inside to deliver a unique experience.

After numerous leaks, Meizu has finally delivered its mighty MX4 Pro smartphone. It is not that Meizu MX4 was under-powered, but the Pro certainly takes things up a notch. This it does by introducing not just a bigger screen with a 2560 x 1536 pixel display and the mTouch fingerprint scanner, but also some pretty powerful Samsung Exynos silicon inside. With specs like this you can be sure that this smartphone can easily take on all of the devices launched this year and may be a few, that are yet to come next year as well.

While many expected the Meizu MX4 Pro to be powered by an MediaTek chipset, we were indeed taken aback when the news came through. The Samsung Exynos 5430 chipset is a pretty neat piece of kit. Till today, Samsung only delivered it with the GALAXY Alpha smartphone and it packs in quite a punch (Mali T628 MP6/600MHz GPU) and delivers better battery life all thanks to its 20nm manufacturing process.

Battery life seems to be the focus here as well since Meizu utilises a NEGA negative LCD panel that helps keep battery drain to a minimum while delivering optimum visibility. And lets not forget the mTouch system that can deliver accurate fingerprint recognition even with a damp finger. More importantly all those fingerprints are safely stored in safe zones of ARM TrustZone. ARM TrustZone® can separate all SoC hardware and software sources and store them in safe zones. All of this means that you fingerprints are safe, even if your phone is rooted.

As for the complete hardware specs, they are as follows:

  • We get a JDI built 5.5 inch NEGA negative LCD panel of 2560 x 1536 pixel resolution, protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3
  • Inside we get an octa-core Samsung made Exynos ARM cortex-A15 2.0GHz x 4 + ARM cortex-A7 1.5GHz x 4 with 3 GB of RAM
  • In the camera department we get a 20.7 MP (Sony IMX220 Exmor RS) primary snapper with a 5 MP wide-angle front-facing one
  • There is an mTouch capacitive touch sensor at the bottom of the screen that comes with a surface built from Sapphire glass
  • The smartphone delivers quality DAC sound thanks to the ES9018 DAC audio processor
  • The device runs Android KitKat 4.4 with Flyme 4.0 layer on top that delivers a unique UX

The Meizu MX4 Pro when available will come in 3 colours and in 16, 32 and 64 GB options. As of now, no details about the availability of the handset have been announced yet. Pricing is expected to be around 25,000 INR.
