Samsung GALAXY S5 Mini To Be Flipkart Exclusive

After Motorola, ASUS and Xiaomi, it is now Samsung’s turn to get the ‘Flipkart exclusive’ badge.

 

Online retailing giant Flipkart has begun teasing its fans about the upcoming Samsung GALAXY S5 Mini handset. While the handset was announced after being in the rumour mill for long back in July, we don’t see fans getting too excited about the GALAXY S5 look-alike unless of course Samsung sells it for a low price.

While the GALAXY S5 flagship itself failed to impress buyers and with Samsung all geared up to announce the GALAXY Note 4 next week, the ‘mini’ version of the failed flagship will indeed be a hard sell.

The specs are again not all that impressive as well:

  • 4.5 inch 720p AMOLED display
  • 1.4 GHz quad-core processor
  • 8 MP primary snapper on the back and a 2.1 MP sensor on the front
  • 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable thanks to a micro SD card slot
  • 2,100 mAh battery

What will find buyers may be the IP67 water and dust resistance certification along with the heart rate monitor, for those into the whole health tracking thing. Again there is the that AMOLED display as well. Indeed what we will see here in India is a dual SIM version of the handset and may be the single SIM version as well.

The handset is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25-30,000 which is a bit high. It will be competing with last year’s flagships like the Nexus 5 and the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact that certainly beats the pants off the S5 Mini.

Again, with companies like Xiaomi and ASUS offering premium design along with impressive specs at low prices, the Samsung GALAXY S5 Mini will indeed be a pointless handset unless the company gets the pricing near the Rs 20- 22,000 range.
