HTC Creative Labs Working On Releasing Zoe For All Android Devices

While Blinkfeed did not make it, HTC bets on building Zoe into social network.

HTC smartphone owners pretty-much love their Zoes. It is basically an app that lets you make 30 second clips out of a number of video recordings, photos and the music stored on your phone in a jiffy. However, HTC Creative Labs head, Drew Bamford in a chat with ReCode, has now confirmed that the company will be taking the app global, making it available on all Android devices.

The goal is to turn Zoe from an app that resides on HTC devices, into something similar to Instagram or Vine. In order to do this, Drew Bamford plans to make the app available on more Android devices. After that, HTC would depend on marketing to make the app famous by roping in some big names, in what would be a huge PR campaign. HTC Zoe would then change from a place to make Zoes into an app that will allow you share and view other Zoes as well uploaded from other Android devices.

Guess we now know why the app shows up without an install button on the Google Play Store even on devices as fresh as the HTC Desire 816. Bamford seems pretty confident that Zoe would pick up pace, but this would indeed depend upon how many devices (and which ones) the team plans to support when the beta app launches in a week’s time.
