HTC Gears Up To Launch Desire 516 In India, Imports Dummies

The company has imported thousands of Desire 516 dummy units to India, we see a launch date approaching.

Import data records from Zauba show that HTC has recently sent across a massive number of dummy Desire 516 units to India, which could only mean one thing - a launch date is approaching. All these dummy units will be handed out to retailers India-wide when the phone goes on sale, which is why it is suspected that the handset will be launched soon.

The Desire 516 was launched in China a few months ago and falls into the budget segment of handsets that the company builds. Sporting a sub-Rs 10,000 price tag, the handset will compete with the likes of local brands and the Moto E and may arrive in its dual-SIM form.

In terms of specifications, expect a 5 inch qHD (960 x 540 pixel) display powered by a 1.2 GHz processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. On the back expect to see a 5MP shooter with a VGA sensor on the front. The handset is should be powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and will be launched in grey and white.
