Oppo Announces The World’s Thinnest 4G Handset, The R3

Seems to be a worthy competitor to the Moto G until you take a closer look.

Oppo has taken the wraps off its competitive mid-range offering, the Oppo R3 and the handset comes with some mid-range internals stacks up well against the Moto G in terms of specifications, but is well ahead of it thanks to its thin magnesium clad construction.

The device sports a 5 inch (1280 x 720 pixel) display and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The R3 runs Android Jelly bean and comes skinned with Oppo’s custom Color OS to keep things refreshed. Inside you will find 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be expanded thanks to the presence of a micro SD card slot.

The Oppo R3 is built out of magnesium alloy, in what is the differentiator between itself and any other budget device. The frame sits sandwiched between two glass panels with the camera being the only protruding part of the device. This is how Oppo managed to make the device not only slim at 6.3mm, but light as well and claims that the handset is the thinnest 4G smartphone there is.

On the back is an 8MP primary 1/3.2 inch-sensor with a bright f/2.0 aperture and comes with a special night shot feature which works on eliminating noise in low lighting situations. There is also the O-video feature that will basically combine photos and videos and upload it online.

All of the above is powered by a large 2420 mAh battery, which thanks to the quad-core processing and battery saving tech should allow that handset to run for an entire day.

The Oppo R3 comes in black and white and is priced at 2299 Chinese Yuan (Approx. Rs 21,880) and will go on sale in China later this month.
