Sony Sends Out Invites For A Press Event, Will It Be The Xperia Z2?

With competitor’s handsets already up for sale, Sony definitely needs to pick up the pace.

Sony has sent out media invites for an event that has been scheduled for the 8th of May in Delhi. We all know that if there is one device that Sony is currently lacking in the Indian market, it has to be the Xperia Z2 smartphone. The news was reported by the Economic Times and indicates that the much-awaited handset will hit the shelves in about two weeks from now.

Sony announced its stunning Xperia Z2 handset back the Mobile World Congress and since then has only been promoting the product. Sadly, manufacturing hit a roadblock some time ago and the company failed to meet its April launch. It was just a few days ago that the Japanese electronics giant had finally got the Xperia Z2 up on store shelves in Europe which means that it will take some time for the handset to reach Indian shores.

The Xperia Z2 is currently selling in Europe for a price tag of 544 pounds which roughly translates to Rs 55,000 in Indian monies. The price tag will place the device over the HTC One M8 which so far, has been the only truly premium handset launched this year. The HTC One M8 sells for Rs 49,900 while the Samsung GALAXY S5 is selling for a much lower Rs 43,500 online which justifies its plasticy construction.

The Sony Xperia Z2 will indeed be a premium device sporting its OmniBalance design theme which took off with The Xperia Z a few years ago.  The glass and aluminium construction along with some flagship hardware specifications and that mind-blowing 20.7 MP camera will certainly make for a worthy competitor to the HTC One M8.
