Huawei Launches The "World's Slimmest Smartphone" In India

The Emotion UI-based Android device might make you cry with its Rs 30,000 price tag.

The Chinese manufacturer Huawei has been quite active in the Indian market for the last few months. To up the ante, the company has now rolled out its premium handset Ascend P6 in our country. Wondering what's special about this phone? Well, for starters, it's slimmer than your cutting-edge iPhones and GALAXY devices — 6.18 mm to be precise. The P6 features a sleek metallic body, and judging by the images it's quite a looker too. Coming to the subject of hardware, the phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor (no info on the chipset yet). It sports a 4.7-inch HD screen. Apart from that, you get an 8 megapixel camera, 5 MP front-facing snapper, and 2000 mAh battery.

The Huawei Ascend P6 runs Android OS 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Called the Emotion UI, it's the heavily tweaked version of Android. Huawei claims the interface implementation has been based on the input from over 5 million consumers. The phone will be available in Black and White, and is priced at Rs 30,000. It will be interesting to see whether the Indian consumers will shell-out 30k for a hardly-known Chinese brand when they can pick up the Nexus 4 or Nokia Lumia 925 for a lesser price.
