Google Adds New Drop Down Menu To Search Results

Does away with the search preview window as well.

Google, which is speculated to incorporate its voice service 'Now' into its search homepage, has brought about a minor update to its search results page. The update is now available to users, and offers a drop down menu with three options — Cached, Similar, and Share. Moreover, Google has done away with the Instant Preview pane on the Search window.

Starting today, users will notice URLs in Green, with a little arrow for the new drop-down menu. The Similar option initiates a new related search with results resembling the current search. The Cached option redirects users to the cached page of a particular website, and share lets you share URLs on Google+. For the Share option to work though, you need to be logged into your Google Accounts, and obviously have an active Google+ account.

This update reduces screen clutter and neatly packs all additional options into a single section. Apparently, Microsoft's Bing also offers a drop-down menu, which takes users to the cached page of a websites.
