A Chinese Windows 8 Smartphone Next Year?

Chinese company aims to achieve the unbelievable feat.

While most mobile phone manufacturers are busy putting Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, or iOS operating systems in their smartphones, a Chinese company, In Technology Group (ITG) has plans to put the Windows 8 desktop operating system. The company currently has a phone with Windows 7, and it plans to launch a new phone with Windows 8 next year when the operating system is launched.

ITG, which advertises itself as "China's Apple", claims to have already got a prototype known as xpPhone 2 with a 4.3" screen ready, running Windows 7 and an early version of Windows 8. This is the successor to the xpPhone running Windows XP. The new phone claims to run as a desktop PC host at home by connecting to a monitor, a smartphone while you take it with you, a notebook connected to a projector for your presentations in office, and even as a GPS navigation system in the car.

The company resorts to considerable amount of self-praise by stating itself to be a part of one of the two opposing tripartite camps with one having Intel, Microsoft, and ITG, while the other having Apple, Google, and Motorola. It goes on to claim to support over 150 million software applications as opposed to the 425,000 for the iPhone, and 250,000 on the Android Market. We assume that it is taking into account, all the software applications available for Windows desktop operating systems. The tall claims continue with the ITG stating that the xpPhone 2 will sport the fastest processor at 1.6 GHz, the highest memory at 2 GB, a maximum storage memory of 112 GB, and the longest talk-time of up to 18.5 hours! The xpPhone 2 will come in a considerably compact form factor measuring 14 cm x 7.3 cm x 1.75 cm. Until the device actually shows up, we don't need to tell you to take all of the above with a cup of salt.
