The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) is scheduled to declare the results of its Senior School Certificate Examination 2012 (Class XII) for all regions tomorrow at 1100 IST. The Delhi-based board has eight regional offices all over India and affiliated schools in almost every state and union territory. The results will be made available on several websites, by email, SMS, as well as IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System).

Facebook has launched a photo-sharing app called Facebook Camera, with an aim of making it easier and faster for people to share their photos while on the move. The app lets you take pictures, upload them to your profile, and also view what your friends share, through a feed that consists of only photos. Incidentally, it also lets you crop pictures and add filters in a way similar to Instagram, the company that FB had recently purchased for $1 billion. Considering the growth potential that this simple-to-use app seems to have, we are now beginning to understand why such a huge amount was paid to abruptly purchase a startup with the popular photo app that was hardly a couple of years old...

The time for waiting is soon going to be over for the nearly 17 lakh students as the Maharashtra Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC) results are scheduled to be declared on 25th May at 1300 IST. Students can access their marksheets on the following websites: www.mahresult.nic.in, www.msbshse.ac.in, www.mh-hsc.ac.in, www.hscresult.mkcl.org, www.results.bharatstudent.com, and www.rediff.com/exams. BSNL, Rediff.com, Airtel, and Innova will also be offering the results over SMS. Sony Mobile has launched three new Xperia smartphones – U, P, and sola, in India today. This was the official launch after they were announced last month, when we had a chance to take a first look at the three models. They still come with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), although the world has been moving fast to ICS. However, Sony says that an update will be made available by June this year. The Xperia U and P smartphones with large touchscreens belong to the higher-end Xperia NXT line-up of next generation mobile phones, whereas the sola is a mid-range phone. Primarily launched as a full-fledged app for the iPhone and iPad, it is also available in the form of plug-ins for popular desktop browsers such as Chrome, IE, Firefox, and Safari. According to Ethan Batraski, head of product for the Search Innovation Group at the company, the goal of this new browser is to eliminate the middle step in the web search process. After airtel's recent cuts in 3G rates, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have now followed suit by slashing rates for their 3rd generation mobile data plans by up to 70%. This will obviously bring high-speed mobile internet plans within the reach of the masses. 3G services were launched in India last year by several companies. Although these services allow substantially faster internet access on mobile handsets, adoption rates have been slower due to excessive tariff. Although with new rates in effect, that seems to be headed for a change and we expect more companies to announce 3G data tariff drops...

Samsung had recently started shipping its GALAXY S II (GS2) smartphones pre-installed with Android 4.0, however, reportedly the company seems to have left out key features during the OS upgrade. It has been noted that the UI appeared similar to the Gingerbread version of TouchWiz even after the ICS upgrade, and apparently, this is just the tip of the iceberg. While it does bring many of the features that come standard with the new mobile OS, the screenshots comparison between the upgraded GS2 and the GALAXY S III from the report shows that it is not exactly ICS that you are getting. With social networking being one of the most happening online phenomena today, Microsoft has also tip-toed into the fray by quietly launching its social network called So.cl, which is pronounced as "Social". Before you jump the gun, we must state here that the software giant is promoting this new venture with students as its target audience, clearly mentioning this in its tag line as "A new research experience for students". It appears that MS is trying to take small steps, rather than take strides, and thus seems to be shying away from competing with the established players.

In fact, the FAQ page of the new social network states, "We expect students to continue using products such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other existing social networks...

Fishermen from Kerala can heave a sigh of relief, as BSNL is considering extending mobile network coverage into the Arabian Sea. The telecom major has expressed plans to increase its reach up to 20 nautical miles into the sea along the entire Kerala coastline, from the current 5-km reach which is in place. As of now though, the coastal mobile towers were restricted to the current prescribed limit, due to radiation-related stipulations. BSNL plans to work around to this issue by directing signals into the sea, away from the thickly populated hamlets surrounding the towers.
Recently, two fishermen from the state lost their lives to bullets from the Italian ship Enrica Lexie...

In what could be one of the first of such instances in our country, a woman from Aurangabad has filed for divorce because her husband did not change his Facebook relationship status from Single to Married. The social network provides options to set the relationship status as Single, Married, or Engaged. The 28-year old woman, who was married two months ago, has approached the family court seeking divorce stating that she cannot trust her husband anymore, as he has failed to announce their marriage on FB. Her husband, on his part, says that he forgot to update his status, because he was apparently so busy with family and business that he had no time to check his profile page or change the status. If Mark Zuckerberg could find time to change his status to Married, I find this a bit hard to believe...

Karbonn Mobiles has launched a new dual-SIM GSM mobile phone, the KT21 Express, adding one more to its expanding fleet of handsets. Sporting a metallic finish, this touch-and-type feature-phone boasts of Hindi language support. It also comes with a 2.8" capacitive touchscreen and a 3.2 MP camera with LED flash that doubles up as a flashlight. It has 16 GB of internal memory, expandable to 32 GB via a microSD slot. Multimedia features include the ability to record and play multiple video and audio formats, as well as receive over 50 live internet TV channels, probably via the NexGTv app. I'm pretty sceptical though as to how you could possibly enjoy watching anything on such a tiny screen...

ASUS has launched two high-end laptops in India, the N56VM for multimedia and the G75VW for gaming. Both laptops are based on Intel's third-generation Core i7 quad-core processors,also known as Ivy Bridge, and are two of the company's more expensive models. While the former is priced at Rs 90,000, the latter will set you back by Rs 1,40,000.
The N56VM features a 15.6" Full HD LED-backlit display, and claims to offer a good aural experience using SonicMaster technology that has been developed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower, while Video Magic Technology is said to enhance the viewing experience...

Go Tech has added a couple of more models to the inexpensive tablet pool with the launch of the funtab 7.1 fusion and 7.1 fonetab. The 7.1 fusion is priced at Rs 4000, while the 7.1 fonetab at Rs 7000 comes with a SIM slot for cellular data connectivity. In addition to the above, it plans to launch as many as four more tablets this year. The company aims to sell up to 10,000 units of these Android devices in the next three months.
The 7.1 fusion comes with Android 2.3, while the 7.1 fonetab has Android 2.2, and both are powered by an 800 MHz CPU. Sporting a 7" screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480, the fusion has 256 MB RAM...
