GALAXY S5 Now Receiving Android Lollipop Update In India

Seems like Samsung indeed wanted to add some goodwill to its GALAXY S6 launch.

Samsung GALAXY S5 owners from all over India have begun reporting that their handsets have begun receiving notifications for the much-awaited Android 5.0 update.

The news comes at a time when Samsung just announced its all-new GALAXY S6 and S6 edge smartphones for the Indian market.

Android 5.0 Lollipop delivers new features like the new recents menu, lockscreen notifications along with those (typically Samsung) bright colours.

What the update also brings, are those much-needed performance improvements with a smoother OS overall and some big improvements for the device’s battery life.

Sadly though, this is nowhere near the GALAXY S6 experience as TouchWiz makes its presence felt almost everywhere in the user interface.

That, and the size of the update, which is 875 MB, in size is indeed not going to make many users happy considering that apps still reside on the internal memory. This is more so because the update requires 3 GB of free memory space for the process to complete.

Still then, those who have not been happy with the previous KitKat update are in for a treat even though the UI has not got a total overhaul.

If you have not received the notification for the update, simply download the Samsung Kies desktop application, connect your smartphone, and check for the same.
