Samsung Galaxy S6 Gets A Price Tag In Netherlands

Base version to cost approximately Rs 48,500.

The highly anticipated Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have gone official. While the Korean brand did not shed any light on pricing details at the MWC 2015, Samsung Netherlands have put up the upcoming phones up on pre-order. The base version of the "normal" Galaxy S6 is priced at 700 euros (approx Ras 48,500). If you fancy its Edge sibling, prepare to shell out at least 850 euros (Rs 59,000).

As our regular readers would already know, Samsung has done away with the microSD card slot for the flagships. This will allow the Korean handset-maker to charge premium for the additional storage capacity. As first reported by GSMArena, a Finnish website expert.fi has managed to obtain pricing details of other variants. Based on these two sources, here's a handy price chart:

Galaxy S6 (32 GB): 700 euros ~ Rs 48,500
Galaxy S6 (64 GB): 830 euros ~ Rs 57,500
Galaxy S6 (128 GB): 950 euros ~ Rs 65,700 ~ a human kidney.

Galaxy S6 Edge (32 GB): 850 euros ~ Rs 59,000
Galaxy S6 Edge (64 GB): 1000 euros ~ Rs 69,200
Galaxy S6 Edge (128 GB): 1100 euros ~ Rs 76,400 ~ kidney of a non-drinker.

Direct currency conversion may not be the best way to predict the Indian pricing, as it involves multiple factors such as import duty, local taxes, and subsidies. That said, if you are planning to buy the next Samsung flagship, this information should at least give you a rough idea. I have run these numbers by an accomplished mobile shop owner in Mumbai. According to him, the prices are in-line with what dealers are suggesting at this point. Give and take a couple of grand.
