Google Play Newsstand’s Paid Subscriptions Now Open For India

Brings all of your favourite news and magazines together in one place on your smartphone or tablet.

Google Play Newsstand’s paid subscriptions have finally gone live in India. The same was announced just yesterday after the Android One announcement and Google seems to have finally opened its paid subscription doors for the same today.

If you haven’t used Newsstand before, the service simply worked as an aggregator for news sources from different websites that brought news together (depending on your choice) on various topics. With paid subscriptions now active, Indian Android users can now purchase subscriptions from a barrage of both local and some international magazines as well.

The content even includes news sources (local and foreign) that you can subscribe to and say good bye, to those incomplete articles that showed up earlier.

The service has come a long way from Google Reader to Currents and finally to Newsstand just last year. Now the only thing that remains pending is Google Play Music service which for some strange reason (copyrights may be) has not made it to India; even though Apple is doing well with iTunes.

If you haven't downloaded Google's Play Newsstand app yet, you can click here to download the same.
