Tim Cook Opens Up On The iCloud Celeb Photo Hack

Shares plans about how better security measures will be implemented into upcoming software updates.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook finally answered a couple of questions about the iCloud situation that seems to have left Hollywood celebs shocked and the common man surprised.

The CEO of the Cupertino tech giant did not openly agree that it was the company’s fault that lead to the situation, but also blamed it on users to an extent who left things a bit too open. In the interview with WSJ, Tim Cook did mention that the hackers got the passwords and user IDs via a phishing scam and also thanks to correctly answered security questions.

He did defend the company again by saying that no Apple IDs and passwords were stolen from Apple’s systems so they were not entirely responsible for the scenario.

Post that he went on to assure Apple users (who ever has not emptied their iCloud accounts by now) that the company will be delivering better security in the form of two-step authentication for mobile devices with the upcoming iOS 8 software update expected later this month. The same authentication system will be be enforced in a much stricter way for users so that many begin to take advantage of it.

Lastly Cook also mentioned that the enhanced cloud services security measures that will fall into place soon will push notifications in the form of emails or push notifications to other devices, the second someone tries to change an account password, restore cloud data or even when a device logs into an account for the first time.
