Leaked: BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 Images Show Up Online

Sports a new design and comes with altered hardware under the hood.

BlackBerry is definitely hogging up some news headlines these days. We guess it all has to do with the stunning BlackBerry Passport that the BlackBerry faithful have waited for years to launch. We just got news about the BlackBerry Passport’s complete and detailed spec sheet and now we hear about the ultra-expensive Blackberry Porsche Design smartphone. Images of the successor to the Porsche Design P’9981 launched back in 2012 have finally surfaced online and yes, we do have some price tags to share as well.

As for the Porsche Design P’9983’s design, it has more similarities with P’9981 compared to BlackBerry’s last Porsche Design handset the P’9982 which was an all touch screen handset. The handset codenamed ‘Khan’ certainly looks like the Enterprise spaceship that Khan took in the recent Star Trek flick. The design sports a matt black finish and includes a new keypad which according to sources is not touch-sensitive like the one on the Passport. Surprisingly there are no navigation keys either, which indicates that this after all may be the BlackBerry Q10 inside; but the hardware details show something else.

The rumoured specs point to the Porsche Design P’9983 sporting a 3.5 inch display along with a 1.7 Ghz processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.

Impressive, yet limited in a way. Clearly it is not the specs that the buyers of this handset will be looking at, but the exclusivity. Apart from the exotic space age materials that this handset will be built out of, it will also be the exotic price tag pegged at 2000 USD (approx. Rs 1,20,000) which will grab attention. Considering that the Porsche Design P’9981 was launched in India back in 2012 for the same price, we expect the new handset to cost in the same region if not higher.
