Sony Is Hopefully Not Working On This Ultimate Selfie Smartphone

While the images look pretty much legit, the design clearly does not have international audiences in mind.

Images of a the ultimate Sony-made selfie smartphone may have actually surfaced. While the images look real, the handset’s design in the image is indeed hard to digest. Could this be the ultimate selfie phone from Sony? Let’s hope not.

While the design of the bottom part of the handset does resemble some handsets of the past, its the top part that we are worried about. It certainly makes the smartphone look like a perfume bottle. Indeed we do understand where Sony is coming from, (remember the Xperia Pureness?) but this one has a lot of bling on it.

That chunk of bling as per the leaked specs, hides the 1/2.3” Exmor RS sensor and dual-conversion Sony G lens that also packs in optical image stabilisation (OIS). On the front, we have a 3 inch display with the necessary radios to share all those selfies and support for a micro SD card (since you will be taking so many of them in high quality). The handset measures 57.7mm x 125mm x 20.1mm and weights just 136 grams including that swivelling glass blob on the top.

Sony Xperia Pureness

We just hope that this is a prototype that was rejected along the way. Indeed Sony could take inspiration from the Xperia Pureness itself and deliver something better. We would be happy with the recently announced Xperia C3 instead, which in all probability could be the end result of such a prototype.
