Upcoming HTC One Windows Phone Image Leaks Via Verizon’s Website

Looks almost like the One M8 and even includes BlinkFeed from its Android counterpart.

HTC clearly can’t keep a secret; or should we say Verizon, the US cellphone carrier. The struggling Taiwanese smartphone maker is all geared to launch its refreshed Windows Phone offering, but strangely, the renders of the handset have already leaked online, thanks to US operator Verizon. Well, if you know HTC and if you know about the One M8, you also should know that we are expecting a hands-on video to appear online pretty soon.

Jokes aside, the leaked render does give us a few clues about what’s new about the handset, and what has been retained by HTC from the Android-powered One M8. The render clearly shows an all metal body, meaning that this could the first premium segment handset in the Windows Phone space with on-screen navigation keys. Again, there’s the processor which is touted to be the Snapdragon 801 SoC which so far has yet to make an appearance on a Windows Phone device. What we did notice, and seems to be a minor difference differentiating the W8 from the M8 is that the lower speaker grill seems to have been pulled down even lower, compared to the One M8. There could be some new hardware bits hiding in there, but for now its the only visible difference between the two.

As for HTC’s customisations, looks like Microsoft indeed handed over the keys to HTC similar to Nokia (albeit thanks to WP 8.1 Update 1) that will allow for deeper customisations as can be seen from the BlinkFeed tile on the leaked render. Obviously this being Windows Phone and Microsoft, the maximum one can expect is a BlinkFeed app in this smartphone. Good thing is BoomSound has made it to the handset and hopefully Zoe also should (HTC Camera), in order to make this an appealing product to Windows Phone users. Whatever it is, we will know soon when HTC unveils the smartphone at their scheduled New York event on the 19th of August.
