Facebook Messenger Update For WP8 Adds In Chat Video Playback

You can even manage that long list of stickers better with the new 6.0 update.

Facebook has been showing a lot of interest in the Windows Phone platform recently. The social network had recently introduced a standalone Facebook Messenger app for the Windows Phone platform and since then has been updating the app regularly. And after today’s update, it seems that Windows Phone is indeed getting some much-needed attention after all, with in app video playback similar to iOS.

It was a missing feature indeed as Windows Phone users could earlier only share photos in a manner similar to its iOS and Android counterparts. The new 6.0 update brings video sharing where you can actually play your received video in the chat area itself apart from being able to share videos with others.

Also included in the update the ability to view recent stickers which makes a lot of sense for those who have downloaded massive sticker collections and have to scroll through many pages just to add one sticker. Hopefully, we see a sticker manager appear soon which is available on the Android app.

Overall, the app also seems to load faster compared to the past which we guess is because the messages finally seem to be stored on the device rather than the servers which used to take ages to load. Facebook is indeed pushing hard to force users to use its standalone messenger app on multiple platforms, clearly it wants its messenger to be a full-fledged service rather than an add on to the Facebook network.
