Microsoft Requests WP Users To Uninstall Preview for Developers

The Preview for Developers apparently leads to problems when users upgrade to the official firmware for their devices.

It was just a few hours ago that Windows Phone users were reporting issues with devices that were using BitLocker full disk encryption. Apparently the issue is pretty much widespread and a lot of Lumia 925’s have locked up. Microsoft has now made an official statement and a request for users to switch back to the commercial version of the software before upgrading to the Lumia Cyan update.

While the Lumia Cyan update is rolling out to users world wide, Microsoft has now requested its Windows Phone users on the Preview for Developers firmware to switch back to Window Phone 8 and then upgrade to WP 8.1. Moreover, the software giant has even halted the roll-out of the Preview for Developers for Windows Phone to avoid any more conflicts for end users.

Indeed the Preview for Developers (as the name suggests) is meant for developers to test their apps on and delivers the latest build that the company is working on. Instead a number of casual users have switched to the build since the official version of Windows Phone 8.1 with the Cyan update took so long to arrive.

Microsoft has promised that the Preview for Developers updates will continue once the issue is resolved and has till then suggested those who are facing issues after updating, to use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. As for users who are not facing any issues, they can continue using the Preview for Developers.
