Google Will Soon Turn On The 'Cast Screen' Function For Chromecast

The update will allow users of any Android smartphone or tablet mirror the screen onto a Chromecast-enabled display.

Google has rolled out a new feature for Chromecast that allows users to mirror the screen of their Android smartphone or tablet. The 'Cast Screen' function was first announced at Google I/O this year, and is similar to what Apple offers with AirPlay for iOS devices.

The function will show up in the navigation menu on the dedicated Chromcast app available on the Play Store. For Nexus device users the option to 'Cast Screen' will appear in the quick settings menu, not requiring them to enter the app itself.

Screen Cast will work with any app running on an Android device, meaning developers will not have to change any compatibility settings in order for it to work. The new feature will come handy for making visual presentations, playing games, or a whole load of other possibilities.

The feature is currently in the beta testing stage and will come to select devices from Samsung, HTC, LG and others in a few days. According to Google it will take some time for the update to be rolled out for all users, but is definitely coming.
