BlackBerry Launches Its Budget Z3 Smartphone In India

The Foxconn-made smartphone is said to bring all the BlackBerry goodness at a budget price tag.

 

BlackBerry has let loose its latest smartphone the BlackBerry Z3 in India. The handset is what Blackberry calls a “budget” offering and will be priced at Rs 16,000. The objective of designing such a handset as the company puts it, is to deliver the BlackBerry experience to the masses.

The handset packs in 5 inch qHD (960 x 540 pixel) display that is powered by a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1.5 GB RAM. The handset runs the latest version of the BlackBerry 10 OS and also includes 5 MP primary snapper with a 1.1 MP front-facing one. Surprisingly the device comes with 8 GB of storage and also includes a micro SD card slot. Powering all of the above is 2500 mAh battery, which according to big B delivers up to 15.5 hours of talk time and up to 16.2 days standby.

The Z3 will indeed compete with devices like the Nokia Lumia 630 and Motorola’s Moto G considering that it packs almost the same specifications. The handset will be available only in black and will go on sale across India starting from the July 2. The phone is also available for pre-booking on The Mobile Store, Flipkart and BlackBerry exclusive stores starting From Wednesday. Both Flipkart and the The Mobile Store are offering Rs 1000 vouchers for pre-bookings, which can be used in the store as well.

The handset was first launched in Indonesia and BlackBerry even launched a special Z3 Jakarta Edition.
