Yahoo Mail Update For Android Will Turn Your Inbox Into A Newsfeed

Personally, we find it pretty distracting.

Yahoo has finally updated its Yahoo Mail Android app which similar to the iOS app update brings new features and additions to your Yahoo inbox.

In short the new update basically adds a news feed to your mailbox. Apparently Yahoo feels that you should be doing more when you come to check your mail. Still then, the Android version unlike the iOS version of the app gets the handy swipe feature that lets you easily switch from mail to news and your customisable Yahoo Today feed.

Users can now read news, check out scores and even watch videos straight from the Yahoo Mail app. There is also a Yahoo Today tab that offers the normal information that you get from other Yahoo apps like weather, stocks and Flickr.

With Yahoo already having plenty of other apps for news, weather, etc. it somehow does not make sense to club all of them into the mail app. If you ask us, it is distracting. If you ask Yahoo, well they simply have more people accessing their services.

Yahoo had recently launched the Yahoo News Digest for Android earlier this month after sticking to iOS for a long time. Certainly goes to show that the Android herd is definitely getting a lot more attention these days. Sadly, Windows Phone seems to be getting none of it.

The update is rolling out gradually; so it may take some time till you see those two additional tabs in your Yahoo Mail app.
