LG’s Android Wear Powered G Watch To Hit Shelves In June

A French retailer confirms that Google’s first Android Wear offering will hit stores in Europe for 199 Euros.

After all the teasing, news comes from Lesnumeriques (a French retailer) that LG’s much-awaited G Watch will go on sale in Europe in June for 199 Euros (approx. 16,578 INR). LG has been promoting its G Watch lately and after showcasing a Gold version at the official announcement; comes the welcoming news for those looking forward to buying one.

The Korean electronics giant had last taken to Twitter to promote its version of the smartwatch which will be the first to offer Google’s Android Wear OS. With the price tag finally out in the wild, we guess many smartwatch buyers will hold back on Samsung’s recently launched Gear smartwatch range.

The G Watch was announced much later compared to the Moto 360 after Google announced its Android Wear platform for wearables earlier this year. LG started advertising its G Watch a bit later compared to Motorola’s offering. But it was made pretty clear that LG would be the first company to offer a wearable running Google’s Android Wear OS. Samsung’s offering on the other hand was announced recently prior to Google’s announcement. The Gear range runs Samsung’s custom made Tizen-based OS which helps its run more efficiently, delivering a better battery life as well.

There are no confirmed hardware specifications when it comes to the LG G Watch, but the device is said to sport a 280 x 280 pixel display with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
