Apple Announces Hare-brained Scheme To Sell More iPhone 5C

We want more money.

Apple’s iPhone 5C is a great phone for Rs 30,000. It is basically a more colourful albeit plasticky version of the iPhone 5. However, no one in their right frame of mind would want to buy iPhone 5C for Rs 42,000 which is closer to the price of the top-end models from most other manufacturers like LG, HTC, Samsung, and Nokia.

If the hare-brained scheme as reported by Business Today and by Manish Telecom is to be believed; you actually give in your old iPhone 4 8 GB or 16 GB, and get Rs 12,000-13,000 off on iPhone 5C. Nope, no iPhone 5S schemes, those are selling like hot cakes, especially the Gold Edition. The dealers will apparently earn Rs 2000 in the exchange.

The worst offers are for the upper-echelon of phones like Nokia 925, BlackBerry Z10/Q10, HTC Desire 500/Desire 600/One Mini/One Dual SIM, Samsung Galaxy Mega (5.8 and 6.3 inch both)/Galaxy S4 Mini/Galaxy S3/Galaxy S4/Galaxy Note 2/Note 3 and Sony's  Xperia ZR/Xperia Z/Xperia Z1/Xperia Ultra. The terms and conditions include that the phone has to be in working condition and preferably with all accessories, and then you would get about 12K off.

You can expect this ridiculous exchange at any of the retail stores selling the over-priced iPhones. The 16 GB and 32 GB iPhone 5C is priced at Rs 41,900 and Rs 53,500 respectively, while the 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB variants of the iPhone 5S are priced at Rs 53,500, Rs 62,500, and Rs 71,500 respectively.

We would really pity those who fall for this scam scheme.
