Google+ Hangouts To Get Capture Application, Reduce Dependance On Screenshots

Capture also allows for sharing of Google+ Hangouts snaps over shared albums.

Google+ Hangout users will have an extra Capture application with which they can take snapshots within Hangout sessions. Users are likely to find Capture useful, since it provides an alternative to the relatively-difficult screenshot procedure that people are forced to resort to, whenever they have to make a graphical note of anything about their Hangout sessions.

Google hasn't begun a revolution with its Capture Hangouts app, but has given its Google+ users something useful to play around with, while saving time and having fun.

Google announced the "Capture" feature earlier this week and said in a blog post, "Google+ Hangouts bring people together, and when they do, all sorts of awesome can unfold". Even in the case of an "Awesome" not folding about, Capture might "capture" people's attention with its focus on graphical content.

With Capture, users will also get the benefit of saving their Hangout snaps to shared albums - viewable only by other Hangout invitees. You can also view photos while inside a particular Hangout. The Hangout Capture app notifies users when in use, and when a picture is being taken.

The application introduces a camera-like icon in Google Hangouts, and is being rolled out worldwide. Even though the nature of the Capture App makes it look like the conventional camera application in Android, it eliminates the need to use external snapshot taking tools such as Skitch, and also enables people to share their best stills even after the conclusion of their Hangout session.

Google Hangout offers the ability to connect up to 9 users at a time, a scale of communication that'd otherwise be costly on services such as Cisco WebEx. The Capture application is a feature supplement that could help Google Hangout emerge as an alternative to such enterprise web-based conferencing services. Entrepreneurs could also derive benefit from Hangout Capture, being able to put across their ideas effectively to people and potential clients.

Since Google is into the development of Google Glass apps, it would be interesting to see how the Capture app synchronizes with Hangouts started via Google Glass.
