Firefox Phones On The Cards?

These phones will provide a platform for developers to develop apps for Firefox OS

 

Mozilla has showcased two phones that it has developed in association with GeeksPhone and which it will be sending to developers who will be working on developing apps for the company's open source mobile operating system. These phones will run on the Firefox platform that incorporates web technology based on HTML 5.

Called Keon and Peak, these phones are speculated to hit emerging economies on a priority basis,according to a report. A Mozilla Hacks report even makes a mention about the technical specifications of both these developer specific handsets and also mentions about how developers can develop apps, in the form of a guide.

Both these handsets have almost identical specifications but for their processor configuration and display screen size.

Mozilla's developer phones are speculated to be launched in February.

Apart from these developer phones, Mozilla Firefox operating system platform is expected to be incorporated in to ZTE phones that will arrive at the end of the year.
It will be interesting to watch how the Firefox OS fares in front of giants such as Android and the i OS. On another note, Mozilla is conducting FirefoxAPPDays will take place in more than 20 locations around the world. Most of these App Day events will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
