Go Tech Launches 7" All New FunTab Tablet For Rs 4000

Features a 1 GHz CPU, HDMI port, and Ice Cream Sandwich.

Another day, another low-end Android tablet! Delhi-based Go Tech has launched its 7" tablet, called the All New FunTab (yes, "All New" is part of the name). Like any other run-of-the-mill slate, this one features a 1 GHz CPU, 512 MB of RAM, and 0.3 mp front facing camera for video chat. From the pictures, it looks a lot like the Zync Z-990 (and that's definitely not a compliment). On the software front, it comes with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The detailed list of specs is as follows:

  • 1 GHz CPU, 512 MB DDR3 RAM.
  • 7" capacitive multi-touch screen (800x480 pixels).
  • 4 GB of internal storage, Supports microSD card slot (up to 32 GB).
  • 0.3 mp front facing camera.
  • Wi-Fi, No Bluetooth, 3G via external dongle.
  • 3.5 mm jack, HDMI port, MIC, USB 2.0 (with OTG support).
  • Accelerometer, Onboard speaker.
  • 3600 mAh battery.

While Go Tech hasn't disclosed details regarding the chipset, it has been claimed to handle 1080p video playback. Considering that the tablet packs in an HDMI port, it can be a good companion for your HDTV. According to the official product page, the All New FunTab is priced at Rs 7000. However, it's available online for Rs 4000, which is 600 bucks cheaper than the similarly specced Simmtronics XPAD X-720. We haven’t used the tablet, we can't comment on its performance — but going just by the spec sheet, it seems like a decent deal if you're tired of waiting for an Aakash tablet.
