Dell Launches Windows 8 XPS 12 Convertible For Rs 91,000

Intel Core i5 / i7 device features a swivel design to switch between tablet and laptop mode.

Remember Dell's Windows 8 based hybrid XPS Duo 12 showcased at IFA 2012? It has hit the market on time, but with a slight name change. Dell has decided to call it the XPS 12 Convertible; there's no change in the design department, though. This hybrid offers — with its swivel hinge — the freedom to switch between a tablet and ultrabook. The device is powered by the 3rd generation Intel Core series CPUs and comes with minimum 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. It features a 12.5" Full HD (1080p) capacitive touchscreen. Here are the detailed specs:

  • 12.5" Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) WLED capacitive touchscreen.
  • Display Features: IPS panel with 85° \ 85° \ 85° \ 85° viewing angles, Edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass protection, 10-finger touch support.
  • Processor Options: 3rd Generation Intel Core i5 3317U (2.6 GHz), 3427U (1.8 GHz);
    3rd Generation Intel Core i7 3517U (3.0 GHz), 3667U (2 GHz).
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000, 512 MB dedicated video memory.
  • 4 GB dual channel DDR3 \ 8 GB dual channel DDR3, up to 1333MHz.
  • 1.3 mp webcam with dual microphones.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0 port, Headphone / microphone combo port.
  • Backlit chiclet keyboard; Touchpad with gesture support.

Dell says the XPS 12 Convertible has an anodized aluminium and carbon body. The XPS 12 Convertible's build and specs definitely seem impressive. Little wonder, then, that the price tag is a hefty Rs 90,000!
