Android 4.0 ZenFocus myZenTAB 708BH With 7" Screen Launched For Rs 8000

ICS-based tablet sports a 0.3 mp front camera, 8 GB internal storage, and 1 GHz CPU.

ZenFocus has launched the new myZenTAB 708BH tablet based on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Powered by a single-core CPU with a clock speed ranging from 1 to 1.2 GHz and a Mali-400 GPU, it comes with a surprisingly low 512 MB of RAM. That is barely enough to run the OS smoothly. The 7" 5-point capacitive multi-touch screen has pixel dimensions of 800x400. The 8 GB of internal storage can be increased by up to 32 GB via a microSD slot. The slate supports Wi-Fi, but Bluetooth doesn't seem to be supported. A 0.3 mp front camera facilitates video chat. From the specification sheet:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Google Play and Adobe Flash 11.1 support.
  • Apps and games included: Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Plants VS Zombies, Dictionary.
  • 7", 5-point capacitive multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions of 800x400.
  • Boxchip A10 1-1.2 GHz CPU, Mali-400@350 MHz GPU, 512 MB DDR3 RAM.
  • 8 GB internal storage; 32 GB microSD slot.
  • 0.3 megapixel front camera.
  • Supports 3G dongle (EVDO/TD-SCDMA/WCD<A), Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 with OTG, HDMI-Out (1080p).
  • Video Formats: H.264, H. 263, VC- 1, MPEG- 1,2,4 DIVX- 3,4,5,6, XVID, H263, WMV7 / 8, VP6, AVS.
  • Audio Formats: MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, AAC, AC3, DTS.
  • 3200 mAh Li-polymer battery with 4 hours of Wi-Fi browsing and 5 hours of video playback.
  • 7.7" (l) x 4.8" (w) x 0.46" (11.7 mm) (d).

USB OTG allows you to connect peripheral devices such as a keyboard, mouse, USB storage, and even 3G dongles. You can easily view online streaming videos, thanks to Adobe Flash 11.1 support. The HDMI-Out option lets you take the action to a larger, high-definition screen.

Available in an iron-grey metallic casing, the myZenTAB 708BH is priced at Rs 8000, which is slightly high for a tab with these specifications. In comparison, the WickedLeak Wammy Desire tablet appears to be a lot better, and it costs around Rs 1000 less — plus it comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
