Twitter Takes On Insta And Snapchat, Introduces “Moments”

Moments curation feature is currently open to influencers, partners, brands and is soon expected to be rolled out to all users.

Just after Instagram enabled its latest Instagram Stories update, that was widely criticised for emulating Snapchat stories, Twitter, in a desperate bid to stay in the race and boost user engagement, has decided to make its “Moments” a public feature.

In a blog post Twitter said, “When things happen in the world, people come to Twitter to see, experience and comment about what’s happening as it unfolds. The stories and voices aren’t always expressed through a single Tweet – they unfold across multiple Tweets and involve various points of view. Moments allow people to capture and experience richer stories reflecting the diversity of Tweets that, together, make Twitter so powerful. We’re excited to announce that a broader group of creators will be making Moments, including influencers, partners, brands… and in the coming months, everyone.”

Moments has been around for a year, and until now Moments have been curated and created by the in-house team at Twitter. When Moments was introduced last October it was also known as  “Project Lightning”. Earlier, Twitter had introduced the Discover tab which it killed off last year to focus on Recaps and MagicRecs. The app and the web version now have a lightning bolt at the top that takes users to curated Moments.
