Apple iPhone 6s Gets Benchmarked, Almost Doubles On Performance

The 6s takes a massive leap compared to the jump between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6.

 

While Apple’s iPhone performance numbers at launch events are usually in relation to the previous model, the iPhone 6s according to a new customer is pretty much on par and even better than current Android flagships.

A customer who had pre-ordered an iPhone 6s model, happened to receive her iPhone 6s early. So apart from clicking the usual photos of her brand new iPhone, also ran a benchmark test to check out how fast her new iPhone really is.

And boy is it fast. In fact, the dual core architecture of the revamped A9 chipset is almost twice as fast as the iPhone 5s and a lot faster than the iPhone 6 launched last year.

A look at the Geekbench benchmark results and we can see that the new iPhone 6s delivers a score of 2292 on a single-core and a 4293 on the multi-core test.

To put those figures into perspective, the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge delivered a single-core score of 1495, while its multi-core score was 5188. Clearly, this means that it is the core that matters to Apple and not the number of cores.

Last year’s iPhone 6 is not too far behind, with a single-core score of 1627 and a multi-core run of 2920. As you can see the performance jump between last year’s and this year’s iPhone is one of the biggest ones we have ever seen between iPhones.
