Microsoft Removes Preview Label From Its Outlook For Android App

The app comes out of its preview mode after 17 updates since its initial release.

 

It looks like Microsoft has worked hard every week since January to roll out the Outlook full version app for its Android users.

The app now comes with improvised look and feel and can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

It is worth noting that the Outlook for Android app has been updated 17 times since its preview release.

Without the preview label, the app comes with new icon sets and simplified fonts giving more consistent Outlook experience across operating systems and devices.

We all know that Outlook has always supported Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, i Cloud, Gmail and Yahoo Mail account. But, now, with the latest version of the app, users can also sync mail from email providers that support IMAP like AOL.com and Comcast.net.

It is also being said that the 'top contacts' view has been replaced with a unified view of contacts from all email accounts.

Also, the new app brings in customised swipe gestures for some easy movements through out the app. Now, users can swipe right or left to take actions like archive, delete, move, flag, mark as read/unread or schedule.

However, these swipe gestures are not new in an email app. Google has always been having them since long. Yet, this update is surely a big thing for all the Outlook fans.



Finally, it is worth noting down that Outlook for Android now comes in with its user interface being translated in 30 languages: English, Norwegian (Bokmål), Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.

Some of the other newly incorporated features include;

  • Users can schedule emails for returning to Inbox at a later time.
  • It has a built-in Calendar that automatically notifies users with appointment reminders.
  • The in-built calendar also lets users find available meeting times and share these in email/schedule a new meeting.
  • With Microsoft Outlook, users can view and attach any file from email, OneDrive, Dropbox, and other accounts with just a few taps, along with being able to send large files even if they haven't been downloaded onto a smartphone.
  • Inbox filter can be done to only show messages that are unread, flagged, or have attachments, with a single tap.
