OPPO Looking To Announce Its Bezel-Less R7 Smartphone On May 20

Along with the R7 we also have news about an R7 plus handset.

 

Rumours emanating from China claim that OPPO is planning a big unveiling for its upcoming smartphone, the bezel-less R7. The handset has been a victim of numerous leaks in the past and now we finally have a rumoured date about when we could see the handset going official.

While a bezel-less smartphone is not exactly a new concept in the industry, (Sharp started it with its Aquos range, not exactly bezel-less) we are interested in it because we could see the handset going global.

Still then the launch event is said to take place in China, but that also happens to be OPPO’s home town, so yes this smartphone could go global.

As for the specs of the OPPO R7:

  • We can expect that bezel-less display with that special patented 2.5 D glass in a 4.7 inch form factor
  • Inside, there should a MediaTek, 64-bit, octa-core, MT6795 Helio X10 series chipset
  • In the camera department we can expect a 20 MP sensor as the primary
  • Powering it all would be a smaller 2000 mAh battery considering the slim form factor of the handset

There is also news of an R7 Plus handset which is said to be bigger in size, and should pack in a better battery making it more practical.

All of this hints at a high-end handset with a focus on the display. Hopefully in its quest for thinness, OPPO’s battery can keep up, even with its VOOC charging solution in place.
