Microsoft Announces Its Lumia 430 Dual SIM

Comes with the usual mix and match of hardware at an attractive price.

Microsoft indeed seems to be launching a new smartphone every few weeks. While its current budget range does not fall short in anyway, Microsoft feels that there is always room for one more.

The software giant announced another piece of hardware today called the Lumia 430 Dual SIM.

While it functions similar to the higher priced Lumia 435, it comes with some minor tweaks that allows Microsoft to price the unit even lower than the 435.

Yes, Microsoft has actually delivered yet another Windows Phone device, which has been priced lower than the Lumia 435.

The handset clearly does not look like the 435 but comes with innards that are a almost identical to it. This would include:

  • A 4 inch 800 x 480 (WVGA) pixel LCD display with a pixel density of 233ppi
  • Inside, we get a 1.2 GHz, dual-core, Qualcomm-made Snapdragon 200 processor with 1 GB of RAM
  • Internal memory is limited to 8 GB with expandable memory options going all the way up to 128 GB
  • The camera department consists of a fixed-focus 2 MP primary unit coupled with a VGA front facing sensor
  • We get the usual radios including 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 all powered by a 1500 mAh battery, that falls short compared to the 435’s 1560 mAh unit

So there you have it. What you get is smaller form factor (by a few millimetres) plastics that may be cheaper along with a smaller battery for an asking price of 70 USD (approx. Rs 4377) that we guess is before taxes.

Indeed owners of the 430 will get access to all of Microsoft’s apps thanks to the 1 GB of RAM. Microsoft simply seems to be playing around with the same blocks here because we have no clue what good a 2 MP fixed-focus camera can do.

But its the pricing of the smartphone when it reaches India that will determine its fate. Microsoft in short is selling you a capable smartphone with Office and other cloud features built-in and software that is as smooth as butter, something that is missing from in the Android camp at the same price range.

The handset will go on sale in India in the month of April, and will be available in orange and black only.
